The latest “Little Mermaid” trailer features Melissa McCarthy as Ursula Menaces

The live-action “The Little Mermaid” film from Disney has us prepared to descend beneath the waves. Details about the movie have been leaking out since since it was first revealed in 2016. The R&B duet Chloe x Halle member Halle Bailey, an actress and singer, was revealed to be portraying the title role in July 2019. When the COVID-19 epidemic caused production delays, shooting finally began in early 2021 and was completed in July of that year.

Disney unveiled a brand-new teaser for the film on February 15th, giving viewers their best look yet at Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula, Jonah Hauer-Prince King’s Eric, and Ariel’s vibrant underwater environment.

Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” live-action movie has us ready to swim beneath the surface. Since the movie’s initial debut in 2016, information about it has been slipping out. In July 2019, it was confirmed that actress and singer Halle Bailey, a part of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle, would play the lead.

Although production was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, filming finally started in early 2021 and was finished in July of that year. On February 15, Disney released a fresh teaser for the movie, offering audiences their finest glimpse yet at Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula, Jonah Hauer-Prince King’s Eric, and Ariel’s colorful underwater world.

In an interview with POPSUGAR in November 2022, Bailey discussed the response to the trailer at the time. She stated, “I just feel incredibly honored that I got to take on a role like this. “Sometimes I have to pinch myself because of it. Even if it doesn’t feel real, I’m really touched by the response overall, especially from the little children. They give me energy. I just cry and feel so happy watching all of their emotions.”

She also thinks that the nostalgia of the live-action movie will appeal to the audience. I simply hope we can recapture some of that charm from those old movies,” she added.

You don’t realize what this means for us, for our community, and for all the young Black and brown females who will come to identify with you, she recalled saying.
